Greetings All:
Well, after some truly great weather the forecast is about to change things. Look for much cooler weather moving into the Midwest along with wind. Actually, this change should get those walleye and sauger moving more on the Mississippi River. Fish have not been moving towards their usual Fall patterns making for the angler to search them out more. Some action on the wing dams and I look for that to get even better as water temps drop. Fishing up at the dams in pools 12-13 and 14 has been spotty at best. Most of my action coming on down river flat areas with hard bottoms. Look for the winds to help blow baitfish into these shoreline areas and the walleye and sauger will not be far behind. Casting jig/minnow rigs into these areas is a good way to quickly locate active fish. If there is no action in 15 minutes or so, seek out another location until contact with the fish is made.
It might be getting cooler out this coming week but that's just what the doctor ordered to get those fish feeding heavily. Dress warm and enjoy some great late Fall river action on the Mississippi.
