GREAT WEATHER FOR A TRIP ON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER!!

Greetings All:
What a great weather forecast for the next week or so. Mild days and cool nights are shaping up and what a great time to get out on the river. Heck, bring that tent along and you can camp along the many sand bars and enjoy the evening sitting by a nice campfire after cooking up and eating your days catch. If you have never tried river camping, your missing a truly great experience. Best part is that you can fish all day and then rest under the stars to the sound of Mother Nature all around you. Morning will be great with some fresh coffee brewing over your fire and filling the morning air with that great smell along with breakfast. You can also set out a few lines while shore camping and you never know what you might hook into.
I'll tell you folks, with colder weather just around the corner and this great forecast on tap, it's a perfect time to combine some Fall season angling on the Mississippi River with a great camping adventure. Once you try it, you will be hooked on this type of a river adventure.

Till Next Time,,,,,Take Care and I'll See You On The Water.

FALL FISHING OUTLOOK ON THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER!!!

Greetings All;
Well, with the nice cooler nights and a touch of Fall arriving this week, those water temperatures in the Mississippi River will start to go down. When this happens you can bet that the fish will take note and get ready for a change in their patterns. Fact is that it only takes a few degrees drop in water temperature to trigger the fishes natural instincts that tell them the seasonal change is coming.

My prediction is for another great Fall fishing season on the Mississippi River from North of Winona, Minnesota, all the way South through New Boston, IL. Even though the river water levels are very low, you can look for some great angling to be available. If we get some much needed Fall rains that lift the water levels back to more normal, look for an even better bite to occur. From Walleye and sauger to panfish and bass, this is going to be another great Fall season on the Mississippi river.

TIME TO THINK ABOUT SHOTSHELL RELOADING!!!

Greetings All:

As we slip closer into the Fall season it's a great time to think about reloading your own ammunition.

It make no difference if you are a seasoned shotshell reloader or someone that has thought about getting into reloading, now is the perfect time to get serious about it. As many of you folks know from attending my shotshell reloading seminars I hold all across the country, reloading is not only a fun activity that the whole family can enjoy doing, but it's also very rewarding hobby for anyone that shoots shotguns.

At my seminars you will notice that I exclusively use and speak of the benefits of using MEC Reloading presses and for good reason. MEC, Mayville Engineering Company located in Mayville, WI has produced over 2 million shotshell reloaders over the years and is without a doubt the premier shotshell reloader to use. From the simpliest single stage press to the fully progressive units, MEC has the perfect setup for both beginners and seasoned professionals.

Two great new products have been added to the fine MEC lineup. MEC is now producing a complete line of shotgun wads for the shotshell reloader. These top notch wads are made of superior materials to help produce a perfect shotshell everytime. They are available in a variety of sizes for your particular reloading needs.

Also new is the Sizemaster Zombie Reloader. This single stage press will have you reloading those shotshells in no time.

For the complete MEC line of reloaders and other fine MEC products, just go to www.mecreloaders.com.

If you would like more information on reloading shotshells, just drop me a line at: lastcast13@yahoo.com. So how about it? Now is the perfect time to get into the wonderful hobby of shotshell reloading. Believe me folks, once you try it, you will wonder why you waited so long.

MID-WEEK FISHING REPORT

Greetings All:

Well, here we are mid-week and the weather has been really great to be out on the river. There is a fly in the ointment though with rain forecast tonight but mostly on Thursday. Friday and the weekend looking OK as of now.

Excellent catfishing continues on "Stink-Bait" fished off wingdams near the main river channel area. Also near deadfalls in the water that have at least 4 to 5 feet of water close by.  Some very nice, big stripers starting to show up on the flat areas. Look for fast tapering sand flats and cast right tight to shore and bring your presentation back into deeper water. The stripers are schooling bait fish into these areas when feeding. As far as lures, 1/4th ounce jigs tipped with a 3" twister tail doing well. Plastic shad bodies also working. My personal favorite this last week has been a simple, all white hair jig. The bass are loving this hair jig and hitting it hard.

Hope everyone gets a chance to make some plans for the great Fall fishing that is ahead. Unless Mother Nature throws us a big curve in the weather department, it should be great fishing ahead.

A TASTE OF FALL FOR THIS COMING WEEKEND!!!

Greetings All:

Well, if your making plans for this coming weekend here in the Midwest, looks like you picked a good weekend. All weather forecasts are predicting a nice, cool weekend with only some spotty shower chances on Friday.

If you planning on doing some fishing on the Mississippi River, look for a good catfish bite going on along with some really big white bass starting to show up. For the catfish, use your favorite stink bait near snags and also wingdams on the main river. For those big white bass, look for fast tapering shorelines that have either rock or sand bottom. The bass are using these areas to school baitfish for their meal. Early and late in the day seems best but you never know when they will go on a feeding binge. Try a white hair jig on light line and hang on. They have been devouring this white jig setup.

For you campers, nice cool nights will make for some great campfire chat time. Nothing beats sitting around a fire with the beautiful stars overhead. Bring the bug spray as the mosquitoes are still pesky at times. The smoke from the campfire will help keep them away but bring the repellent anyway.

You boaters, still some great boating left. Be cautious of the low water conditions and stay in the marked main channel area. If you do leave the main channel, go slow as many obstructions are just under the waters surface and can damage your boat or motor drive.

Myself?, well I am ready for cooler temps and a great Fall season that is ahead.

So bring that camera with and get outside and enjoy. This weekend of great weather will be perfect!!
